The IMT Institute aims to become a leading research and application center for medical technology products and services in the region. With a spirit of continuous innovation and creativity, we strive daily to enhance the quality of life for people and elevate Vietnam's position in the field of medical science and technology research on the international stage.

The Institute of Medical Technology Applications (IMT) was formerly the Center for Community Health Research and Development (COHED), established in 2002. It was officially upgraded to an institute under Decision No. 285/QĐ-LHHVN dated April 5, 2024, issued by the Presidium of the Central Council of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations. The Ministry of Science and Technology granted Certificate No. A-28, updated for the sixth time on June 4, 2024.

About Us

Missions

To gather scientists and experienced professionals with expertise in the fields of medicine and technology to conduct scientific research and implement projects and initiatives in the healthcare sector. The institute focuses on the development of scientific and technological advancements to serve the goal of improving public health.

Functions

Scientific Research
The institute conducts scientific research and implements projects and studies in the fields of healthcare, epidemiology, environmental health, mental health, occupational health, health economics, medical equipment, application of medical technology in daily life, clinical trials, medicinal herbs, health supplements, and public health and healthcare services.

Scientific and Technological Services
The institute provides research consulting, designs methodologies, and participates in scientific and ethics councils. It implements, monitors, and evaluates projects in healthcare and technology, offers physical and mental health consultations, and develops, assesses, and transfers scientific-technological tools for training and medical services. Additionally, it commercializes research findings, organizes scientific conferences and seminars, conducts training programs for organizations and individuals, and compiles, prints, and publishes relevant materials and publications.

The institute collaborates with domestic and international organizations and individuals to fulfill its functions and missions.

2002

The Center for Community Health Research and Development was established in December 2002 under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA). As a non-governmental organization, it supports community development and vulnerable groups by enhancing livelihoods and improving the quality of life.

2021

In March 2021, COHED officially transformed its focus to develop projects related to healthcare and medical services, operating in three key areas: Research, Medical Technology, and Education. This shift aligns with the post-COVID-19 era's trends, where health has become a top priority.

In March 2021, COHED transformed into the Institute of Medical Technology Applications (IMT Institute). The institute's mission is to bring together experienced and skilled scientists and experts in the fields of healthcare and technology to conduct scientific research and implement projects aimed at advancing medical technology and improving community health.
